Project Description:

Tasked with developing and designing an exhibition highlighting some aspect of life in Philadelphia for an audience of undergraduate students, Thriving Hive: Philadelphia's Bees and Their Keepers is an interdisciplinary exhibition that blends the worlds of history, science and contemporary culture studies to trace the story of Philadelphia's long history with bees and beekeeping. From the founders who advocated for bees as a means of economic independence and efficiency through to today's surge in urban beekeeping in a city with a growing agricultural, environmental and DIY culture.
